Cement Grinding Plant Line II
Turbo East, Kenya
Scale
KSh 1.136 Billion
Status
Ongoing
The Cement Grinding Plant Line II at Turbo East represents one of Civicrete's largest ongoing structural design and supervision mandates. National Cement Company engaged Civicrete to provide comprehensive design and construction supervision services for the expansion of their grinding capacity. Our team, led by Eng. Muturi Benson and Arch. David Matole, is responsible for all structural elements, regulatory coordination with the National Construction Authority and NEMA, and full project oversight through to commissioning. The project significantly expands Kenya's domestic cement production capacity.
Complex Industrial Foundation Loads
Grinding mills generate severe dynamic loads requiring specialised foundation design using mass concrete plinths with vibration isolation pads to meet equipment manufacturer specifications.
Silo Structural Design
High-capacity cement storage silos demand precise calculation of dynamic filling loads, seismic loads, and wind forces on tall slender structures in accordance with BS EN 1991 and Eurocodes.
NCA & NEMA Coordination
Fast-tracking regulatory approvals across National Construction Authority, NEMA, and county government required meticulous document management and proactive stakeholder engagement.
Client Brief Development
Detailed evaluation of spatial specifications and production capacity targets
Geotechnical Investigation
Soil testing and bearing capacity determination for all foundation elements
Schematic Design
Preparation of layout drawings and structural concept for NCA initial approval
Detailed Structural Design
Full calculations for mill foundations, silo structures, conveyor galleries, and support buildings
Construction Supervision
Site inspection, quality control checks, and structural oversight at all construction stages
Regulatory Liaison
Coordination with NCA, NEMA, and county government throughout design and construction phases
Commissioning Support
Final structural checks and project handover documentation
